Project Type
New Build
We were extremely excited when our clients first approached us with their preliminary plans, and that Danny Glavan was the designer. We knew from the first meeting that the build would be highly detailed with great finishes, which would require master tradespeople, which is perfectly suited to our building culture.
Located around 45 minutes from the centre of Sydney, the house comprises 5 bedrooms, each with its own ensuite, kitchen, family, formal lounge, entertainment rooms, laundry and powder, x2 study rooms, gym, garages and a pool and outdoor entertainment area. The project encompassed a great working relationship between our clients, architects and Berlina as the builder.
Our Mt Vernon project in itself comprises a wide array of distinct features that speak to the truly bespoke nature of the home. This ranges from complete marble floor and wall tiles, custom doors, feature moulding and linings, timber feature columns, landscaping and external works, in-floor heating as well as numerous finer details which really do bring an overwhelming amount of elegance and class to the build.
The project was also highly specific in it's construction requirements. For instance, the floor slab, due to it's large size, required isolation joints to control movement. To disguise the floor and wall joints in the finished product, we strategically positioned the concrete pour breaks to not only satisfy the structural requirements, but also so as not to comprise the aesthetic finishes. These joints were positioned to ensure that the structural marble joints and structural joints lined up, or where frames would cover the floor joints. The use of marble throughout this breathtaking home also brought about the further necessity for precision. Several marble components including thresholds, cladding, cappings, risers, treads and trimmings were manufactured off-shore, with Berlina assisting with detailed shop drawings and precise site measurements.
This project was an absolute pleasure to work on, not just for it's elegance, detail and grandeur, but for the great working relationship between Berlina, it's client, the architect, trades and other consultants. This meant the works were able to flow, and issues were resolved collaboratively and as a team, a testament to the skill and likeminded mindset of the project team. It was a pleasure to build this luxury home.
